Paediatrics is dedicated to the medical care of new-borns, infants, children, and adolescents. Students will be trained to understand the distinct needs of growing children, learning to diagnose and treat common paediatric illnesses like infections, disorders, and developmental delays. The course emphasizes child development, immunization schedules, and preventive healthcare. Clinical exposure allows students to handle paediatric emergencies, monitor growth, and manage chronic condition. Paediatrics aims to foster a deep understanding of the importance of early intervention and the promotion of lifelong health.

Course Description & Details

At the end of the course, the student should be able to

Understand the normal growth and development of children from infancy through adolescence, and identify deviations from normal.
Diagnose and manage common paediatric conditions, including acute and chronic infections, nutritional disorders, and congenital anomalies.
Comprehend the immunization schedule, recognizing the importance of vaccines in preventing childhood diseases.
Recognize paediatric emergencies and provide immediate care, including resuscitation and management of acute conditions.
Promote preventive paediatric healthcare, emphasizing nutrition, developmental milestones, and regular check-ups.
